The Rehellinen Warkaus
and its life boat Näpistys

Every boat has a story. “Rehellinen” (“Honest”) is a word in Savo
region’s dialect from the time of the tzars. The steam boat Warkaus
(Theft) is honest because it is the first boat of the Warkaus series
built by Paul Wahl Workshop. One night of autumn in the 2000s,
the name Näpistys (Pilferage) appeared on the life boat’s prow
of the Warkaus, and everybody liked it.

The first 100 years life of the boat Warkaus
are made of three different periods: 45
years as a tug boat, 10 years of decline,
45 years as a leisure boat and thanks to
the refurbishment it also got the title of
“traditional boat” from the National Board
of Antiquities.
